ESSER Year 5 Annual Reporting Phase I Due January 15, 2025

ESSER Year 5 Annual Reporting Phase I Due January 15, 2025

November 4, 2024 | Grants Management

ESSER reporting lives on even after the money does not! We are entering year 5 of reporting which will involve data from 9/1/23 to 8/31/24. This year, the reporting will be done in two phases with Phase I being due January 15, 2025. ESSER annual reporting is very complex; therefore, today’s article will point you to information to get you started without going into the weeds. Regardless, do not wait to get this on your radar!

The federal team at CSS has the combined knowledge of both federal program requirements and day-to-day financial implementation in order to fully comprehend the ESSER annual reporting requirements, and we relieve the burden for our partner schools!

Phase I of the ESSER Annual Report is due January 15, 2024, and is open now in the Federal Program Compliance Smartsheet Workapp system.

Recorded trainings and videos are available on the Grant Compliance and Administration Playlist on the TEA YouTube Channel.

What information is being reported by Jan 15?

The data that you will need to complete the report is from the reporting period of September 1, 2023 to August 31, 2024. The following is a general summary of the data needed:

  • Schools tab – FTE counts of SPED educators, Bilingual/ESL educators, school counselors, social workers, school psychologists, and nurses regardless of fund source
  • Crossact tab – Total FTE of all staff regardless of fund source, use of ESSER funds by type, re-engagement strategies regardless of fund source, FTEs paid by ESSER funds broken down by category, total cost of ESSER FTEs, student enrollment by demographic subgroup, ESSER funded programs with student participation counts

Please note that it will be imperative to view the training before attempting to complete the report! The report is open now, and CSS does NOT advise waiting until after the holidays to start!

Where can I find more information/resources?

In addition to the YouTube training link above, please refer to the ESSER APR Frequently Asked Questions (not to be confused with the regular ESSER FAQs).

LEAs should use the workbook to collect data and prepare prior to submitting in Smartsheets. This report may NOT be submitted, and it is only for planning purposes!

We also have Title IV reporting and Title I Comparability reporting going on in November, so make sure your “federal person” has time to work on all these requirements (they might need some chocolate too)!

What about Phase II?

Phase II is also open in Smartsheets as of 11/1/24. Phase 2 will include the detailed fiscal reporting on expenditures. It will be due March 15, 2025. CSS will issue another article after the New Year.
