New Grant Opportunities in eGrants

New Grant Opportunities in eGrants

February 26, 2024 | Grants Management

You might have noticed some new grants appear in your eGrants screen recently under “Grants/Apply for eligible grants.”  Oddly enough, you might not even be eligible. This article is to explain the grants and how to respond in eGrants to either apply or reject them.  Action is required by all Charter Districts.

What is the Grow Your Own Grant?

2024-2026 Grow Your Own High School Education and Training:  This is a competitive grant, and only six (6) will be awarded in the State.

This grant is for high schools to offer dual credit education courses as a career pathway with the goal of growing your own future teachers.

Obviously, if you do not have a high school, this grant is not for you; however, you will need to go into the ADC form to reject it.

If you do have a high school and are interested in having dual credit education courses, you can read more about this grant here. https://tea.texas.gov/about-tea/news-and-multimedia/correspondence/taa-letters/grow-your-own-high-school-education-training-grant-district-application   Keep in mind with only 6 being given out, TEA will want to give the grants to schools that can grow the most teachers.

Please see the directions at the end to either accept or decline the grant in the ADC form.

What is the Strategic Staffing/Paid Residency Grant?

2024-2026 Texas Strategic Staffing for Sustainable Paid Teacher Residency:  This is a competitive grant, and only 24 will be awarded in the State.

This grant is to pay student teachers a stipend of about $20K-$30K in a year-long residency program. A partnership with a “vetted” (TEA approved) university is required.

All LEAs are eligible for this grant. You have to consider if you are near a vetted university, and if you feel the time to do the grant is worth it given only 24 will be given out.  TEA will give preference to LEAs who can support the 3-4 residents a year.  Also, the host teachers for the residents must be certified in the same area the student teacher is seeking and have 3 years of successful experience.  Read more here: https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/TXTEA/bulletins/389a227

Please see the directions at the end to either accept or decline the grant in the ADC form.
