Title I School Improvement Grant and Comprehensive Ratings

Title I School Improvement Grant and Comprehensive Ratings

August 29, 2022 | Grants Management

With the release of the A-F Accountability ratings on 8/15, also came the federal list of schools in need of improvement. Although the state did not officially label LEAs with a D or F, new federal “comprehensive” labels were released, and intervention requirements are starting now!

How do I find my federal ratings?

To see if your school was rated Comprehensive, Targeted, or Additional Targeted, click here:

https://rptsvr1.tea.texas.gov/perfreport/account/acct_srch.html?year=2022

  • Enter District level report and enter District LEA name. Then click View Reports.
  • On the top left “Overview” tab, select “Summary.” Then scroll down to almost the bottom under “Identification of Schools for Improvement.” You will see your LEA and Campus federal ratings under that.

What if my LEA has a campus that is rated Comprehensive?

If any campus is rated “Comprehensive,” you will be receiving Title I School Improvement grant funds. The grant webinar is 9/9/22, and the grant will go live in eGrants on 9/13/22. You should contact your assigned ESC right away to be directed through the required training and school improvement requirements. We do not know the exact due date of the grant at this time, but it is generally in Nov. You do not get to wait on the money to start intervention plans, however!

The current interventions calendar has two important due dates coming soon.  First, the LEA must name a District Coordinator of School Improvement (DSCI) and record the name in ISAM (in eGrants) by 8/31/22. Second, the first draft of the Targeted Improvement Plan (TIP) to be developed by a District Improvement team is due Sept. 30, also uploaded in ISAM.

Click here for the website with Intervention requirements, but also get with your ESC right away!

How do I know what Federal Targets we missed?

To know the specific federal targets missed in reading and math, follow these steps for the report:

Again, go to the ratings website

https://rptsvr1.tea.texas.gov/perfreport/account/acct_srch.html?year=2022

  • This time, enter the CAMPUS name that is identified for Comprehensive, and view the campus report.
  • Under the “Closing the Gaps” tab at the top center, select “Identification of Schools for Improvement.” You will see a chart with the missed targets highlighted in red.

Strategies to improve student performance in these areas of reading and math must be included in your Targeted Improvement Plan. Title I School Improvement funds must be directed to these campuses and to their targets in reading and math. Some funds can be maintained at the district level, but there will be a cap that will be communicated when the grant is released.

CSS assists our clients to complete the school improvement grant and answers questions to guide our clients through the process as they work with their assigned ESC.
