School Safety Overview Webinar
November 15 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am
Description
Join Charter School Success as we partner with the Harris County Department of Education’s Center for Safe and Secure Schools in a live webinar November 15, covering Texas school safety standards outlined in the most recent 88th Texas Legislative session in 2023. In this 1.5 hour session, safety experts Janice Owolabi and Robert Marquez will provide an overview of the School Safety landscape following the release of the key legislation. We will begin with the focus on the mandatory and non-mandatory safety requirements for school facilities, intruder detection audits, and armed guard requirements.
We will also provide an overview of the newly launched Sentinel system from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Sentinel is a data repository and reporting mechanism for safety and security information submitted to TEA by schools and other entities. Sentinel includes four main components, including Behavioral Threat Assessments, Intruder Detection Audits, District Vulnerability Assessments, and Emergency Management.
