2022-23 Title I School Improvement Grant
The 2022-23 Title I School Improvement Grant opened in eGrants on 9/13/22, and it is due by 5:00 PM November 10, 2022. Pre-award costs are allowed from 8/1/22 to the submission date of the grant. Another important deadline is the compliance report for last year’s 2021-22 Title I SI Grant. The compliance report for last year’s Title I SI Grant is due Nov 4, 2022.
Who is eligible for the grant?
Each “Comprehensive” labeled campus will receive $43,000. Comprehensive campuses (identified in bottom 5% of Title I schools) are required to engage in School Improvement interventions. These Federal designations are based on Reading and Math. To see if you have an entitlement, click here:

What are the requirements for the grant?
The Title I SI Grant is awarded at the district level. A 20% reservation may (not required) be held at the LEA level to serve feeder campuses within 1 direct level to the identified Comprehensive-labeled campus. The remaining 80% must be spent at the identified Comprehensive campus. In the past, there has been a 50% cap on payroll; however, there is no longer any payroll cap for 2022-23.
Comprehensive campuses must do their Targeted Improvement Plan (TIP) using the 806 Technologies online TIP program in addition to all other required intervention activities that will be tracked by TEA in ISAM. Your local ESC should be guiding you and training you on all required interventions. The 806 Technologies program allows you to “link” your Title I SI Grant funding to specific intervention activities. It is CSS’ understanding that the first draft of the TIP is due 9/30/22 in ISAM. Any activities you have already paid for will need to be included as pre-award in the grant application (back to 8/1/22 is allowed).
What if we had remaining funds from last year?
Unspent Title I SI grant funds from 2021-22 will be carried over to 2022-23 at the LEA level in January 2023. An amendment will be required to access carry over funds. The initial (November) application will only be for the $43,000 per Comprehensive campus. After all draw-downs are complete in the ER system for 2021-22, and the compliance report is done by 11/4/22, TEA will calculate carry over amounts and instruct districts to amend for them in January 2023. There is no limit on carry over funds. There will be no state reallocation, so you will only receive YOUR LEA’s unspent funds from 2021-22.

CSS assists our clients in writing the Title I SI grant and has the insight to view it in consideration of all other federal grant sources. In addition, our federal grant managers have the instructional capacity to offer suggestions to exit Comprehensive status.
Please note: Even if your LEA decides not to participate in the 2022-23 Title I School Improvement Grant, you MUST still complete all state intervention requirements if you have an identified campus. You will not receive any carry over from prior year if you do not complete the grant application this year. The objective of the Title I School Improvement Grant is to direct funding to improve student performance in Reading and Math and exit Comprehensive status (a 2 year process).
