Position Summary
Mission Statement: Charter School Success’ (CSS) mission is to “Help Charter Leaders Succeed.” We provide Business Office Support Services in Finance, HR, Payroll, Federal Grants, and PEIMS, along with various training platforms, with a focus on compliance and exceptional customer service.
Position Summary: The Payroll Manager is the driving force behind our payroll business office services, overseeing and training Payroll Specialists and managing daily payroll activities for multiple charter schools. They assist the Payroll Director with payroll budgeting and accounting, and ensure payroll and payroll reporting are processed in compliance with state and federal regulations and meets clients’ approved schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direction for the timely and accurate processing of payroll and related reporting.
- Supervise assigned Payroll Specialists and conduct employee observations and evaluations.
- Conduct weekly progress meetings with Payroll Specialists and weekly meetings with the Payroll Director.
- Develop, implement, and monitor payroll procedures and regulations.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual state and federal reports and forms.
- Ensure accuracy of deductions and perform reconciliations in coordination with HR.
- Investigate and resolve payroll issues with the support of the Payroll Director.
- Participate in weekly calls with CSS clients to discuss outstanding topics, questions, and upcoming projects.
- Ensure deadlines are met according to client schedules and expectations.
- Address complex client requests and assist with calculations or discussions.
- Support the Payroll Director in onboarding and training back-office payroll clients on CSS procedures, policies, and systems.
- Assist in determining timelines and implementation of payroll processes for new clients.
- Work with the Payroll Director to gather and produce payroll budgets.
- Prepare documents as requested for audits.
- Participate in staff development to enhance payroll knowledge and better serve CSS.
- In the absence of a Specialist, may serve to perform Specialist duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required:
- Minimum 3 years of related experience.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A team-oriented, can-do attitude with exceptional customer service abilities.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective time management and task management skills.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet creation and analysis.
- Ability to work independently from a home office with access to necessary equipment.
- Ability to engage in limited travel within Texas.
- Stable high-speed internet access is required.
Preferred:
- Preferred 1+ years of management experience overseeing teams.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Established relationships in the charter school industry.

Accountability and Classification:
- This position is full-time, exempt, and fully remote, with a competitive salary range between $50,000 and $65,000 annually. It reports directly to the Payroll Director and requires a commitment to meeting deadlines and exceeding client expectations.
