Position Summary

Charter School Success’ (CSS) mission is to “Help Charter Leaders Succeed.” We do that by providing Business Office Support Services in the areas of Finance, HR, Federal Grants, and PEIMS, as well as offering various training platforms. We operate with compliance as our main outcome objective, doing so while providing unmatched customer service.

The CSS Human Resource Specialists are at the forefront of the client’s HR experience with CSS. They are responsible for the processing of new hire paperwork and onboarding activities, leading benefits coordination efforts, and supporting the ongoing HR activities of multiple Texas charter schools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Onboarding

  • Process new hire paperwork through electronic HR system (ex: TalentEd)
  • Maintain the HR system (ex: Talent Ed)
  • Maintain personnel files
  • Perform fingerprinting and criminal background checks, subscriptions, and terminations through TEAL-ECOS and TxDPS
  • Perform uploads in the Do Not Hire Registry
  • Process all personnel changes through electronic HR system
  • Create and maintain “Employee Manifest” for each client
  • Send SSA 1945 to TRS on all new hires monthly
  • Set Up new employees in the applicable SIS
  • Manage the returning employee transaction process for each client annually
  • Other duties as assigned

General HR Support

  • Support schools in the creation or updates to annual documents each year: job descriptions, staff handbook, duty calendars, pay schedule, welcome letter, etc.
  • Monitor and respond to or route all client HR email accounts, ensuring each is up-to-date at least twice per day
  • Research and create ppt presentation drafts as assigned
  • Respond to or route miscellaneous HR questions from clients
  • Attend internal CSS meetings as well as client meetings as assigned
  • Manage email correspondence
  • Maintain and update ongoingly a manual for position duties
  • Maintain and update ongoingly a manual for client specific accounts and related information
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years related experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A can-do, team-oriented personality
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective time-management and task-management skills
  • Ability to work remotely full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Strong wireless internet connection
  • Ability to travel in Texas infrequently

Preferred:

  • HR certification
  • Texas public school experience
  • Experience using HR Electronic Systems, Dropbox, TEAL Applications, and the Microsoft Office Suite

Accountability and Classification

In performing the above duties, the Human Resources Specialist is to follow and conform to all of Charter School Success’ policies and procedures. Timeliness is paramount and deadlines imposed by CSS, the client, Texas Education Agency, Federal agencies and other governing organizations are to be met. It is also imperative that the Human Resources Specialist establish and maintain good relationships with their clients and coworkers to exceed expectations whenever possible, as customer service is at the core of the service we provide.

This position reports to the Human Resources Manager. This position is classified as part time, non- exempt. It may grow to fulltime, dependent upon workload. Compensation is commensurate with experience, starting at $15 hourly.
