It’s time to begin the hiring process for the upcoming school year. Do you have the tools needed to ensure you are hiring highly qualified staff? All LEAs and charters receiving NCLB funds must maintain ensure all instructional staff meet the federal highly qualified standard.
To be “highly qualified” under NCLB, a teacher must have:
- At least a bachelor’s degree; AND
- Full state certification (for charter school teachers, state certification requirements specific to charter schools); AND
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned. The options for demonstrating subject competency differ for elementary (EC-5) and secondary (6-12) teachers*, as well as for new and experienced teachers.
This webinar will review Charter-specific details of hiring highly qualified staff with the goal of being 100% HQ. It will also provide tools useful in review all staff and will prepare you for the HQ reporting submission.
